If you are a foreigner, you must first apply for a long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit (VLS-TS) with student mention (valid for 4 months to 1 year).

Who is concerned ?
You are concerned if you come to France to follow higher education without having a residence permit for personal or family reasons (for example, residence permit, residence permit for private and family life).
You must be registered (or pre-registered):
in a public or private establishment of higher education or initial training (university, Grande Ecole, etc.)
or in a higher professional training body.
Cost
€50 (to be paid when validating your long-stay visa equivalent to a residence permit)
Period of validity
The VLS-TS is issued for a period of 4 months to 1 year.
VLS-TS validation after arrival in France
Within 3 months of your arrival in France, you must validate your VLS-TS and pay a fee which is added to the visa fees.
