The principle of sex therapy
Sex therapy questions the different cases of sexual disorders to have a fulfilling relationship.
Sex therapy is not a couple therapy, but a branch of sexology. Its purpose is to restore sexual contact in a couple. This practice combines in-office sessions and a home practice.
How does therapy work?
- First, the person exposes the object of his disorder and the sexologist tries by questions to know the contours and conscious and unconscious expectations. The therapist explains to the patient the reasons that can make him propose a brief therapy in a few sessions, or a therapy longer of a few months.
- Then, the therapist tries to make a link between the sexual disorders of his patient with the behaviors and beliefs of the latter.
- The therapist then sets up an appropriate treatment and/or practice exercises.
- Finally, the fourth phase makes it possible to evaluate what has been done.
